C.H Spurgeon, the “Prince of Preachers” of the 1800’s, seems to be an endless source of great quotes. Here he admonishes us to immerse ourselves in God’s Word. While we can certainly benefit from “visiting” other good books, we are to find our strength, sustenance, and stability from the Scripture.
As Christians, we can often find ourselves reading many books about the Bible while spending relatively little time in the Bible. Keep Spurgeon’s words in mind while pursuing a deeper relationship with Christ. While there are many books that can benefit our spiritual development, it is God’s Word that should be the foundation of our studies.
